   Hi,

   would it be possible for you to dump the VGA ROM of this card? I have a similar MAC card with DVI which can be flashed to PC but looses DVI function.
   Almost all other ROMs I’ve found are also VGA only.

   In my quest I’ve even used the info on vogons.org to analyse and modify 29 other existing, unique ROMs to match clock speeds (reference clock, core clock, mem clock), but none of them seem to work with DVI.

   If needed, I can help with dumping the rom via atiflash from DOS.

     Edit: Nevermind – I discovered that I already dumped it for someone else in the past.

   If the VBIOS works it would be great news indeed, because then all Mac G4 Cards would be cross-flashable.

   And DVI on a DOS gaming system with a (somewhat) period correct AGP Card is a really nice feature.

     I can confirm the VBIOS works on my Mac card, PN 109-63000-00, but I haven’t been able to get DVI to work (yet).

     In Windows there is a “FPD” display presented inside the ATI GUI, but I can’t get it to work with a DVI-HDMI adapter.

     I’ll study the R128 documentation some more, maybe I’ll get lucky.

         I got it to work.
         Turns out, there are 2 connections missing on the MAC variant of the card, PIN 23+24 on the DVI.
         On your card there are 2 large capacitor footprints below the “J4” silkscreen marking on the board, unpopulated. Right next to them are what I believe to be (hard to read) two 000 (0 Ohm) resistors.

         The arrangement on the Mac Card 109-63000-00 is slightly different, but the two large capacitor footprints are there (90° rotated and populated with capacitors) but with missing resistors next to them.

         I traced the connections out and they go to the SUB-D VGA connector area. I took this as a hint they may be required (I originaly thought DDC or something) and soldered 330 Ohm resistors in (because I did not want to fry anything).
         With those resistors installed, I get picture on POST if a PC Bios is flashed – still haven’t tried anythin other than the BIOS boot screen.

         If I find the time to create an account on vogons I’ll post the relevant info there, but for the moment I’m happy my card works an leave the info here exclusively.

         For now I’ll replace the 330R resistors with wire links and call it a day.

           Wow, that’s amazing work! I also got a Rage 128 Pro MAC floating around somewhere, maybe I’ll try to convert it, too. It’s really cool looking with an active fan, but I can’t recall the P/N right now.

           Feel free to paste the link to the vogons thread here as soon as it exists. That’s a bigger chance for people to find your mod then 🙂
